Chris Szabo - Managing and Creative Director
Chris Szabo arrived on Madeira island in 1988 and became the Marketing Director for the company International Leisure SA. In 1990 together with Roberto Jardim Huber and Nick Bayntun he founded Atelier Jardim Lda. The design and communications company was the first of its kind on Madeira and quickly became the first choice for the big hotels and international groups that required quality design, photography and consulting.
As the Marketing Director of Atelier Jardim, Chris quickly saw the enormous potential of the then fast emerging internet world. He dedicated his time to the study of web development and soon began crafting web sites for some of the biggest Madeira island hotels. He also developed and published the most comprehensive and visited multilingual travel destination guide for the island of Madeira.
Chris was also one of the two founding partners of 'Strawberry World' and 'Madeira Design Center' (CDM). As the 'Chief Information Officer' and 'Creative Director' his creative skills and marketing expertise were used exclusively to develop and promote the high ranking web sites of the tour operator 'Strawberry World' internationally. During 2005 the company web sites occupied up to 7 of the 10 listings on the first page of Google for searches such as 'Madeira', 'Madeira Hotels', 'Madeira island', 'Madeira travel' etc.
In January 2006 'Navega Bem - Web Design' was formed with a focus on providing professional and quality web development services. Nicknamed 'Mr. Internet' by the local press, Chris is an expert at search engine optimisation and marketing.
