Joomla Day Germany was hosted in Bad Nauheim just 30 minutes north of Frankfurt between the 24th and 26th of September 2009. The conference was held in the prestigious Hotel Dolce Bad Nauheim.

Chris Szabo and Edmund Elzer represented Navega Bem – Web Design & OrangeWeb and were present for the entire conference. Spread over three days the event was divided into a Virtuemart Day, a business day and a day for the Joomla community.

With a line up of high ranking speakers and experts in both the Joomla and associated fields, many cutting edge developments were presented as well as invaluable support for the award winning Joomla framework.

Day 1 (Virtuemart Day) was devoted to the open source ecommerce solution Virtuemart with an excellent presentation from VMart core developer Sören Eberhardt-Biermann and Thomas Kahl.
Reps from PayPal Germany were also present to report on the fast growing adoption of PayPal within the online ecommerce community and also to present the up and coming ‘PayPal Express‘.

Day 2 (Business Day) was for most attendees the highlight of the entire conference with compelling presentations and news about and around Joomla.
The second day began with a keynote from Robert Deutz (Joomla Developer and Author) regarding the progress and development of Joomla 1.6

Amongst the diverse keynotes and workshops that ran parallel, of particular interest to the Navega Bem team was the presentation of K2 given by Fotis Evangelou (Joomlaworks). The keynote about Multi-Lingual sites utilizing Joomfish given by Alex Kempkens (Joomla Core Team und Joomfish Developer) – and the case study of of the Event Data Portal for the Canton of Bern, presented by Geraint Edwards (JEvents Entwickler).

Day 3 (Community Day) was the final day and offered a very intense matrix of themes covering all aspects of Joomla.

Two events we need to mention that stood out more than most were the exciting presentation from Johan Janssens (Co-founder Joomla! and principal architect Joomla! Framework) about Nooku. Like Joomla!, Nooku is open source. It’s designed well beyond the expectations of a basic user, without the complexity of a bespoke system. The Nooku architecture integrates seamlessly into Joomla’s framework, providing developers with a simple yet powerful API to leverage.

Only the tip of the Nooku iceberg is currently showing and we can expect a lot more groundbreaking innovation from Johan and his dynamic team.

The other presentation of great interest and probably visited by all present at JoomlaDay was the “Joomla! Hidden Secrets” expertly presented by Brian Teeman (Co-founder Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc.) The session was not only very informative but also very amusing. You should check out Brian’s video of ‘Hidden Secrets‘ which was recorded at Joomla Day Holland

We would like to thank Robert Deutz for organizing the event and look forward to Joomla!Day Germany 2010.

A New Joomla Gallery Goes Live

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Attention web designers and everyone who enjoys Joomla and particularly Joomla designs.
A new Joomla Showcase Site has been recently launched! Be sure to check it out in case you are looking for inspiration or want to promote your projects.

As soon as you enter BestJoomlaDesign.com you are fascinated by its unique look and feel.

Another great thing about this Joomla Gallery, for both Joomla designers and Joomla site owners is that it’s easy to navigate. The only thing is to decide if you want to see awesome Joomla designs or you want to submit your own project.

BestJoomlaDesign.com is already filled with beautifully designed Joomla websites and Joomla Templates. However, there is still a lot of place for your Joomla designs.

Once your design is accepted by the Best Joomla Design Team it is visible to thousands of people across the globe, but that’s not all. Also, you get a quality back link that will help your site rank better in search engines. So, why would you refuse a free promotion for your Joomla websites and Joomla Templates?

It should be also mentioned that everyone who visits BestJoomlaDesign.com can vote for the Best Joomla Design. The Joomla projects that receive the largest number of votes become the Top Rated Joomla Designs. If your design is featured as the top one, you’ll get a special badge.

And the last but not the least, BestJoomlaDesign.com is also a Joomla community site because it enables visitors to comment on submitted Joomla designs.
It seems the new Joomla Gallery is growing rapidly and you have many reasons to check it out.
